ABOUT THE COMPANY

QUAYSTONE

Quaystone is a small, family-run business, we believe in traditional craftsmanship and techniques yet we retain a fresh and open-minded approach to both design and production. We value the aesthetics of stone, it’s integrity retained by the hand of a skilled mason.

FOLKESTONE’S CREATIVE FOUNDATION

The Quaystone workshop is situated in the Folkestone’s Creative Quarter, based in the old town and harbour. This area has been allocated, by the Creative Foundation, for businesses specialising in the Arts and Crafts. We are therefore lucky enough to be associated with practitioners in skills such as stained glass, interior design mosaic making, painting and ceramics.

COMPANY FOUNDER

Ben Westacott is highly skilled in producing architectural, stone features and meticulously hand-carved molding detail. Having studied Fine Art Sculpture at university, Ben developed a passion for working with stone and began working for a commercial stone company as a Banker Mason.
He then received a grant from the Worshipful Company of Masons to train in the traditional techniques of Banker masonry and architectural carving. He has worked on restoration projects in London’s west end and historic sites such as Woodchester Mansion in Gloucestershire and Canterbury Cathedral.
